Tsuru's Story

We opened Tsuru in 2007 with one restaurant behind the Tate Modern and now have two more in the City. All our sushi is made the way it should be - by hand - on site by experienced chefs. Our katsu is breadcrumbed with Japanese panko and made in our restaurant kitchens. Even if you’re just picking up a quick lunch or supper, we believe it should be made properly using fresh, sustainable ingredients.

Katsu curry is the ultimate Japanese comfort food. We make ours with extra fluffy breadcrumbs to create a seriously crunchy coating; Tsuru's katsu curry sauce has 16 ingredients carefully balanced for a mildly spicy, authentic flavour. Curry was introduced to Japan by the British during the British Raj in India – during Japan’s Meiji period – and has become so popular that it’s now a national dish alongside sushi and ramen noodles.
